About this event

A 4-week beginner meditation course for people who feel mentally busy, distracted, stressed, restless, or unsure how to begin.

This is a 4 Week Course: Bookings and more info at Phoenix Yoga Studios website.

Each class runs for 60 minutes, with clear teaching, guided practice and time for questions.

You also receive a course manual and guided audio recordings so you can continue practising between sessions.

Learn how to feel steadier in your own mind:

Many people come to meditation because their mind feels busy, overwhelmed or difficult to switch off.

You may have tried meditation before and wondered if you were doing it wrong because thoughts kept coming, your body felt restless, or you could not make your mind quiet. In this course, you will learn that this is not a failure. It is part of learning how the mind works.

Mindful Awareness is our Level 1 beginner meditation course. Across 4 weeks, you will learn simple, practical methods for becoming more present, less caught in overthinking, and more able to return to yourself during everyday life.

This course can help you: • feel calmer and more settled • understand your thoughts instead of fighting them • respond to stress with more awareness • build a simple home meditation practice • develop patience, steadiness and emotional balance • feel more confident meditating without needing to be perfect

You will still learn the foundations: how to sit, how to focus, how to work with distraction, and how to practise at home. But the real aim is to help you feel more at ease in your own mind.

Bookings and more info at Phoenix Yoga Studios website.

Course includes booklet and audio meditations to take home.

Who this course is for:

This course is suitable if you:

• are completely new to meditation • have tried meditation apps but want live guidance • find it hard to sit still or quiet your mind • experience stress, overthinking or emotional overwhelm • want a more grounded mindfulness practice • are curious about meditation but unsure where to begin • want a foundation before joining Level 2

You do not need to be spiritual, flexible, calm or experienced.

You just need a willingness to begin.

Your Beginner Meditation Course Teacher:

Sanjay has been practising meditation for over 20 years and has studied a range of approaches, including mindful awareness, stillness meditation, Buddhist analytical meditation, and Tibetan Buddhist methods for developing compassion and wisdom.

He has spent extended periods studying and practising at Kopan Monastery in Nepal, including completing a 3-month meditation retreat based on traditional Buddhist purification practices.

Alongside his long-term meditation practice, Sanjay is also a qualified counsellor with a Master of Counselling. This gives his teaching a grounded and compassionate quality, especially for beginners who may feel unsure, restless, distracted, or self-critical when they first begin meditation.

His approach is clear, steady and practical. Rather than asking students to force the mind to be quiet, Sanjay helps them understand how the mind works, how to sit with experience more gently, and how to build a meditation practice that can support everyday life.
