About this event
Marita Bajurnow; Spiritual Care Practitioner, founder of Sacred Drum Journeys, Drum Circle Facilitator, Songstress, Songwriter, Recording Artist, Drum Birthing Facilitator and Educator, shares her passion for drumming, sound and song as a vessel for Spiritual connection to self and Communities, including Healthy Ageing, Dementia Communities, Women’s Circles and Neuro diverse children.
Inspired by the ancient poly-cultural tradition of Frame Drumming, featured in the illuminating text ‘When The Drummers Were Women’, by Layne Redmond, Marita leads communities in hypnotic drum rhythms for medative journeys, through layering sound and voice for spiritual transformation.
In her trauma informed workshops, you can expect, to receive the soothing vibrations of a variety of drums and sound healing instruments. Marita shares her original, spiritual, groove based music to uplift, energise and inspire creativity.
Participants of the Drum Birthing Retreat should expect a dynamic experience of connection to the self, nature and to Community. Infuse the colours of your soul in to your own medicine drum. Reclaim the ancient frame drum for your individual spiritual practice or your soul work. Be gently guided and supported to use your breath and voice, through meditation, breathwork, chanting and original soul songs.
-------- 'THANK YOU to the enormously talented Marita Bajurnow for making the trip all the way to Mt Franklin last Sunday to lead us in an afternoon of rhythm and song. Drumbeats that brought some to tears, vocal notes to discover our voices, dance to drop into our bodies, a herstory lesson on the ancient and tribal drum rituals for women... then flower-halo-making just for fun! Connection, embodiment, knowledge, tears, beauty and A LOT of laughs. We weren't even halfway through when I turned to the woman next to me and said 'my cheeks hurt from smiling'
‘Your beautiful drumming and singing circle was an integral part of the success of our retreat. Our wonderful guests reconnected with each other, their rhythm and their voices - it was super special after all the time we had spent physically apart to come together and feel the energy of the group creating and harmonising together.’
‘You create such a nurturing and sacred space. It’s always a pleasure attending your drum circles.’
‘Thoroughly enjoyed connecting with my soul tribe and learning new tribal beats and songs to use in my own sound healing practice. Highly recommend attending in person events for the surround sound connection.’
