About this event

Firdaus: The Kashmiri Dawat

As winter gives way to spring, join us for an afternoon inspired by the flavours, stories and spirit of Kashmir.

Firdaus: The Kashmiri Dawat celebrates a region often described as paradise on earth, where food is more than nourishment—it’s memory, heritage and hospitality passed lovingly from one generation to the next.

This time, our hosts come from Kashmiri heritage and will share a thoughtfully curated daawat alongside personal stories, traditions and insights into the culture that shaped them. Through its celebrated cuisine, we’ll discover the people, history and warmth that make Kashmir so unique.

As always, Backyard Baithaks is as much about connection as it is about culture. We’d love to hear your stories too. Perhaps you’ve travelled through Kashmir and fallen in love with its beauty. Or perhaps there’s a favourite meal that instantly transports you back to a cherished moment, a special place or someone you hold dear.

The afternoon will be accompanied by music inspired by the valley, alongside familiar Bollywood melodies from films that brought the magic of Kashmir to our screens.

Come and welcome the new season with good food, meaningful conversation, music and memories.
